Help Mimi move to a new apartment :)

Hi, my name is Mimi Mondal, and I'm a science fiction writer and editor. Some of you may know me. For others, in a nutshell, I am from India, and my novelette "His Footsteps Through Darkness and Light", was a finalist for the Nebula Award in 2020, and earlier in 2018 my co-edited anthology "Luminescent Threads: Connections to Octavia E. Butler" received the Locus Award and was a finalist for the Hugo and British Fantasy awards.
After five years of living in an extremely cheap apartment in New York, I am now compelled to move out, ideally by the end of May. And this is the worst time to find a new place in New York, because rents are at an all-time high, higher than even before 2020. New York is expensive, anywhere outside New York from where you can commute to New York is expensive, none of my friends has a spare room where I can move in... I'm suddenly almost looking at becoming homeless.
I am a freelance writer and editor, which used to suffice for a frugal, low-key life in the city, but the last couple of years have been really hard to hold on to any meagre savings I had collected. I had Covid twice, my family who are mainly in India had several infections including a few hospitalizations, there was one horrible case of bank account fraud and robbery, my ancient laptop and then my phone stopped working in close proximity, and now I really don't have enough to cover finding a new home (which takes 3x the rent to be paid upfront), hiring movers, buying new furniture and pretty much starting all the way over again. Anything you can chip in right now will be of incredible help. :)
