Hello everyone,

Some of you might have heard about it already : our 15 year-old Mimi, isn’t doing well... On July 2nd, we got the worst news possible - her vet confirmed Mimi has oral squamous cell carcinoma, an aggressive cancer that progresses quickly. The large tumor she currently has inside her throat wasn’t there during her dental extraction on March 31st, as per the vet. This whole time, we thought the fatal enemy would ultimately be kidney disease, which Mimi's been dealing with for the past couple of years ... we definitely weren't prepared for something like this!

Mimi has a large bubble under the tongue that makes eating, breathing and cleaning herself very difficult. Her clinic tried to drain it under anesthesia about a week ago, with little success. She drools and her tongue protrudes out to the side due to the bubble, she has a hard time even meowing or purring, twitches from pain and struggles to swallow. We administer morphine, corticosteroids and appetite stimulants prescribed by her vet and she will soon see an oncologist. Mimi is still fighting, and occasionally musters enough energy to follow us around and curl up by our side, purring as best she can when we pet her.

Mimi means the world to us and we want to do everything we can to keep her comfortable and happy. Unfortunately, we're left with very limited funds. My sister is on medical leave due to disability which adds further financial strain and uncertainty. Since the beginning of 2026 alone we’ve spent over 6k on vet appointments, different types of tests, surgeries, medication, etc. My sister’s carrying huge debt and interest charges on her credit card alone. We refuse to give up on Mimi, however the bills are becoming difficult to manage.

Whatever amount you can spare will genuinely make a difference. If it’s not possible for you to donate, sharing our fundraiser is just as important to us. Every dollar means less time worrying about debt and bills and allows us to spend whatever time we have together spoiling Mimi with love and affection and to figure out the next steps for her.
