Hello all!

We are helping fundraise for our two dear friends, Amber McMillan and James "Stew" Riley. Both Amber and Stew graduated from Milton Hershey School.

On Sunday, around 11:30am, they returned home to the kitchen on fire. It was later determined that the washer/dryer, not in use, caught fire. In April of this year, they also had a shed fire due to electrical shortage, but nothing was lost.

Amber and Stew are humble members of the community who both work hard, especially focusing on animal rescue. Over the last year, Amber and Stew have fostered many farm cats, rehomed them, and spaying and neutering new kittens. Stew works at Playful Pup Retreats, where he has been an important team member in providing support to many pups! Amber works remotely, so not having a space to do so is difficult at this time.

Luckily, Amber and Stew are both safe. Stew had minor smoke inhalation and spent a few hours at the ER after rescuing the five house cats (Pippa, Nugget, Cleo, Chestnut, and Mr. Big Boy). Mr. Big Boy is available for rescue! Currently, they are staying with their good friends, Ben and Kat, in Lancaster.

Most of the damage was due to the smoke, so they will be looking to get new furniture items like a couch, mattress, and other items. They will also need funds for moving into a new apartment like security deposit and first months rent.

If you know Amber and Stew, you know that they rarely ask for help, but are the first to give time to others who may need it.
