Help Milton Businesses Recover

When something unexpected happens in a small town, everyone feels it. Milton, North Carolina is currently under a boil water advisory after a lightning strike caused the failure of a municipal water pump, requiring the installation of a replacement. Until water quality testing confirms the system is safe, residents and businesses must boil water for everyday use.

For our local businesses, this has become far more than an inconvenience—it has become a financial hardship. Some businesses, including beloved local restaurants like Aunt Millie's, have been forced to close their doors for days while waiting for the advisory to be lifted. The timing couldn't be worse. Closures during the busy summer season and major event weekends at VIR have meant missed customers, canceled sales, and significant lost revenue. Every business in Milton has been affected in some way. Owners are doing everything they can to support their employees and continue serving the community, but many are now facing lost income, the expense of replacing food and inventory that can no longer be used, and the cost of professional cleaning and sanitation before reopening.

We're asking our community—and everyone who loves Milton—to come together during this difficult time. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help provide relief to the businesses that make our town special. Funds will help offset lost revenue, support employees who have missed work, replace unusable food and supplies, and cover the costs of safely reopening. This fundraiser is being administered by the Milton Merchants Association, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and every dollar raised will go toward helping Milton businesses recover from the financial impact of this unexpected event.

Small businesses are the heart of Milton. They sponsor our events, support our neighbors, preserve our history, and help make our town the special place we all love. Now it's our turn to stand behind them. If you're able, please consider making a donation and sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, and neighbors. Together, we can help Milton's businesses recover, reopen, and continue serving our community for years to come. Milton Strong isn't just a phrase—it's who we are. By standing together and supporting one another, we'll help our businesses weather this challenge and come back stronger than ever. Thank you for standing with Milton.
