Hi everyone,
I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but I’m desperate to save my little boy, Milo. He’s my two-year-old Dachshund, cross-cheeky, energetic, and the happiest little soul you could imagine. Until last week, he was completely healthy, zooming around the garden and jumping onto the sofa like always.
One morning, Milo hesitated to climb the stairs, and when I picked him up, he gave a tiny cry. By the next two days, he could barely walk, and his back legs seemed to wobble. I took him straight to our vet, who suspected a spinal issue and referred us for an emergency MRI scan at a specialist centre in London.
The scan confirmed it is Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) - a serious spinal condition that can cause permanent paralysis if not treated immediately. The specialist told me Milo had a ruptured disc compressing his spinal cord, and that without surgery within a few days, he might never walk again or could lose bladder control for life.
On Friday, 3rd October, Milo completely lost the use of both of his back legs. He drags them behind him and cries when he tries to move. He’s on pain relief now, but time is running out. The vet said surgery offers the only chance of recovery, but the costs are far beyond what I can manage on my own.
I’ve set up this page in the hope that kind-hearted people might help us reach our target in time. Even a few pounds will make a difference. Milo came into my life during a rough patch - he’s been my little shadow ever since. He’s only two years old, full of mischief, and he’s helped me through anxiety, loneliness, and loss. It breaks my heart to see him in pain, unable to move, when all he wants is to play fetch and curl up beside me on the sofa again.
I honestly can’t put into words how much every single donation, big or small, means to us. Your kindness isn’t just helping to pay for surgery - it’s giving Milo a chance to walk, run, and be happy again.
Every penny raised will go directly toward Milo’s surgery and recovery care. I’ve already spent my savings on the MRI and initial treatments, but I can’t give up on him. He’s still alert, wagging his tail when I talk to him - he wants to fight.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving Milo hope, comfort, and a future. I promise I’ll keep you updated on his progress every step of the way.
With love and endless gratitude,
Ben & Milo
