On a recent walk from Dover City Park, a distracted young girl was walking her dog, and her dog walked right into our two dogs. Suddenly, snarling and growling started. Michael quickly tightened up on the leashes, but didn’t realize one was under Milo’s leg. In the chaos of trying to untangle the dogs, there was an upward jerk, followed by a yelp. Michael looked down and saw Milo holding his leg up, unable to walk on it. Michael carried him home, and we took him to the vet the next morning. X-rays didn’t show any injury, and even after comparing with previous scans, nothing was clear. After three weeks of weekly re-checks, we asked about seeing a specialist. We were referred to Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron, where Dr. Collins determined Milo had a torn tricep tendon.

Surgery is scheduled for May 20th, 2026, and Milo is staying overnight at the hospital tonight. The procedure will involve attaching an exo-skeleton apparatus surgically, with periodic adjustments as his tendon heals. The estimated cost is significant, and we’re doing everything we can to help Milo recover and get back to his happy life. Milo has been with us for over seven years, since he was just four months old. He’s been our Shop Dog since we adopted him from the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, and he’s never far from Michael or his mom, Chris. Everyone loves Milo—friends and customers walk into our shop and ask, “Where’s Milo?” His sister, Ruby, misses him too!
