Milo, my four-year-old Bombay cat, has been a constant companion since he was a kitten. He’s always been playful and affectionate, especially with his brother Niko, and he sleeps on my chest every night. Recently, I noticed Milo was in distress—growling as he licked his groin, sitting awkwardly, and becoming more aggressive with Niko. He also started vomiting more than usual. It was clear something was seriously wrong, so I rushed him to Arch Vet Animal Hospital for emergency care.

The veterinarians have been supportive, but the treatment Milo needs is extensive. He’s currently receiving a catheter to relieve his bladder, sedation, IV fluids, and a combination of medications to reduce inflammation, prevent infection, and keep him comfortable. The costs for his care, including the operation, medication, and follow-up appointments, are overwhelming. My mom and I are splitting the expenses on our lines of credit, but it’s a huge financial strain, especially after I recently paid fees for a new screenwriting program I was accepted into. This program gives me the chance to develop a script with professional consultation and guarantees an interview with a producer, as long as I put in the work—which I fully intend to do.

This situation has been incredibly hard on our family. Niko seems worried about his brother, and I’m anxious about what the future holds. Milo brings so much joy to our home—he plays with us, comforts us, and is truly part of the family. I’m heartbroken at the thought of losing him, and I want to do everything possible to give him the care he needs.
