Milo is my playful, sweet Boston Terrier who just turned four last month. He’s been my constant companion, always bringing joy, comfort, and laughter into my life.

Last year, Milo was diagnosed with a grade 2 heart murmur, and I’ve done everything I could to support his health since then. Recently, things took a frightening turn. Milo began struggling to breathe, using his whole body just to get air. He started coughing, collapsing, and even fainting. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where they had to remove a large amount of fluid from around his lungs.

Since then, Milo has had an echocardiogram, and we finally have answers—but they are heartbreaking. We’ve been told that without surgical intervention, Milo may only have about a year left to live, and that time would be dependent on medications just to keep him stable.

There is hope, though. Milo has the option of a specialized surgery that could significantly improve his quality of life by opening up his heart valve. This procedure could give him more time, more comfort, and a chance to truly live—not just survive. However, the cost of this surgery is around $9,000, which is far beyond what I can afford on my own after already covering his emergency care and diagnostics.

I want to give Milo every possible chance. He is still so young, still full of love and life, and he deserves more time.
