Hi everyone,

Our sweet 9-month-old Belgian Malinois, Millie, was hit by a car on October 7th. It happened so suddenly. One moment she was our playful, happy girl, and the next we were racing her to the emergency hospital, terrified we might lose her.

The vets confirmed she had multiple fractures in her tibia and fibula, and she needed emergency surgery to save her leg. The operation was successful, but recovery has been difficult. Despite all the pain, Millie has remained unbelievably strong and full of love; she still wags her tail when we talk to her.

We’ve already spent over $15,000 on her first surgery, hospitalization, and follow-up care. Just as she began to heal, one of the metal pins in her leg bent, and she now needs a second surgery to repair it, along with frequent splint changes that cost hundreds of dollars each. Her total care will likely reach $25,000 — far more than we ever imagined.

This all happened at one of the worst possible times. We were just days away from signing the lease on a small business we’ve been building from the ground up — something we’ve dreamed about for years. We used all of our savings to make sure Millie got the care she needed immediately, and now our plans to move and open before Thanksgiving are on hold.

We know everything else can wait — Millie’s recovery comes first — but the financial weight has been overwhelming.

Millie isn’t “just a dog.” She’s family — our baby. She’s the reason we smile in the morning and the heartbeat of our home. We’re doing everything we can to keep her comfortable and safe, but we can’t do this alone.
