Hi everyone,
Our best friend and fellow Basset Hound lover, Megan Lunny needs our help with her newly rescued and adopted Hound Millie Mae! After Megan lost her first basset Roscoe this past April to a poorly handled case of bloat by the emergency vet, she has been naturally apprehensive to adopting another Basset and bringing one into the fold with her other Basset, Fred. However after agreeing to foster Millie who was brought to the US from China just last week after escaping the slaughterhouse facility she was in with the help of some great people in China and another friend and organizer of their rescue Ashley Parker, Megan and Fred quickly realized Mille was the perfect fit for their FURever home. In-fact, we believe Roscoe sent her. Naturally, the inhumane conditions Millie was in already presented signs of possible infection and gum/dental disease. However, today Megan noticed she was not at all herself in the brief time she has had her. Megan rushed her in to the vet hospital only to discover there are several complications Millie is dealing with and are life threatening.
Millie underwent a full blood test, X-rays, and a slew of other testing that uncovered she has cancer of the anal gland, an infection in her uterus, a foreign object in her stomach, dental disease, and required her to be admitted to the vet hospital. She will undergo an ultrasound tomorrow to determine how to proceed in removing the tumor and object in her stomach among other treatments. The bill is already over $4K and is only going to increase.
Due to Mille just arriving and Megan just adopting her, there is no pet insurance or Rescue involved to help cover these costly services. Millie has endured a very tough life thus far and finally has a chance to live her best life, but she needs our help to see it through!
Megan has also been through an emotional rollercoaster in the months since Roscoe’s untimely passing and finding the right path to adding another rescue to the family. In finding Millie to be that perfect fit, all seemed to be in place until this morning! To be right back in the drivers seat rushing Millie to the emergency only brought back the not so distant fears, emotions, and PTSD of losing Roscoe in April. Millie has a very good fighting chance so let’s come together and give both Millie and Megan hope and the resources to make it happen! Please consider a donation in any amount and/or share this link via social media, email, and text message. In order to reach as many as possible, please make your social media post with the link public!
If you know Megan, you know Basset Hounds are her life and she is an incredible dog mom, friend, and has advocated as a volunteer for the rescue, foster and placement of countless hounds (including our own Brownie 3 years ago).
We love you Megan and Millie!
