I have never asked for community support for a friend but here I am because this is just too much injustice and it's bigger than any one person. This woman is one of my best friends on the planet, and she and her children need help.
This is Millie in her own words: https://youtube.com/shorts/v2tJXoXRVHc?feature=share
Millie America is one of the most powerful forces of good I have ever known. She is love in motion—walking, breathing, and showing up for others again and again. And right now, she is facing something no one should ever have to face.
Millie is currently undergoing treatment for aggressive breast cancer in Puerto Rico. The tumor is large and not currently operable, and she is in the middle of chemotherapy—fighting for her life.
At the exact same time, she is in an ongoing legal battle with her ex husband regarding their children in Asheville, North Carolina. This has been dragging on for over three years now.
These two young children are under the age of 12 and NEED her deeply. She is fighting with everything she has to protect them and remain present in their lives.
Despite her diagnosis and active cancer treatment, she is being required to appear in court in person, with no allowance for virtual attendance. Traveling in her current condition is not just difficult—it is UNSAFE. Not mention, unreasonable especially with today's technology.
This situation is layered and overwhelming. She has been navigating a legal system that has already pushed her to her limits—and now she is being asked to continue that fight while going through chemotherapy. It is simply too much.
We have exhausted every avenue we can think of. If you know someone who can help her legally, please reach out.
In the meantime, we are raising funds so Millie can secure strong legal representation and continue fighting for her children while also focusing on healing her body.
No parent should have to choose between their health and their children.
Millie is not giving up—but she cannot do this alone.
If you feel called to support:
Please donate if you are able.
Share contact information to legal services that might be helpful. FYI, we have already run through or she doesn't qualify for the free options in the Asheville NC area.
Share the situation with those you think might have ideas or want to support her journey.
Hold her and her children in your prayers.
Every contribution, every share, and every ounce of support matters more than we can express.
Thank you for standing with Millie in her fight—for her life, and for her children.
