Hi all. As many of you remember, I usually do an annual Christmas fundraiser for Millicent, a single mom supporting her lovely daughter. With your help, we have made many holidays a little bit warmer, and we have even helped Millicent secure better housing. This holiday season Millicent let me know that she was doing okay, and that she didn’t need the fundraising. Things have changed. During a recent hospitalization her social security stipend was cut and Millicent needs $1800 USD ($2500 CAD - I’m located in Canada so the amount has to be in my currency), to keep a roof over her and McKenna’s head. Because of the exchange rate, every US dollar you donate translates to over $1.30 Canadian. Please give what you can, if you believe in mutual aid, if you believe Black Lives Matter, if you have known and loved a single mom, and especially if you didn’t give anything to a Black person for Juneteenth this year.
