Miley is our family’s strong, brave girl — and right now she needs every bit of love and support she can get. A few days ago, she accidentally ate gum and went into acute liver failure. Her liver completely shut down, and the vets told us it was one of the worst cases they had ever seen. She was placed on 24-hour intensive care, IV medications, and underwent two blood transfusions just to stabilize her. Against all odds, Miley miraculously pulled through the liver failure. The team continues to say they’ve never seen a dog fight like this or recover from something so severe. Now, she’s facing severe kidney failure as her body continues trying to heal from the trauma. She has been in the hospital since December 31st, receiving nonstop treatment, IV fluids, and medication. Her numbers are improving, and she’s responding to treatment — but it is still very much an uphill battle, one she’s fighting with everything she has. We are doing everything we can for her. Her medical bills have grown as she continues to receive care, and she is still not recovered. We are committed to giving her every chance, no matter how hard the road has become.

Miley has always been a fighter. She has so much spirit, strength, and love in her. She’s been part of our family’s heart for so many years, and she deserves every chance to keep going. Please keep our sweet girl Miley in your thoughts, prayers, and hearts. Any love, support, or positive energy means the world to us as she continues this difficult fight.

PSA: Please be extra careful with gum — especially anything containing xylitol. Even a small amount can cause sudden, fatal liver failure in dogs. Keep gum, mints, toothpaste, and anything sugar-free completely out of reach. What happened to Miley is every pet owner’s worst nightmare, and we hope her fight can help protect other dogs.
