Help Miles Get Something Off His Chest :D

Hello!

My name is Miles and I am a transgender artist! I will be starting hormones soon after this is live and after getting that approval I felt more comfortable pursing top surgery but the the type I would need (Double Incision with Nipple Graft) is very very expensive!! And I am based in Florida, so the surgeons with best results Ive seen are in the $8-10k range :,). I dont have an official quote from a consultation but when I do, if it happens to be less than the current goal i will adjust as needed :D

What is Top Surgery (Detailed)?

If you dont know what Top Surgery it is, its a common term in the trans community to refer to basically a double mastectomy. The specific surgery Ill be undergoing will involve two incisions, one at the pec muscle line and one atop the breast to remove the breast tissue and extra skin. My nipples will also be removed, "adjusted" and grafted back on to mimic the appearance of a masculine chest. Some people choose to not have nipples ? I dont know if im committed to the anime boy look quite yet so Im sticking with my nips until further notice.

Why do you need this surgery?

I have actually wanted this surgery for a decade. Since I hit puberty, I was deeply upset by my chest and couldnt pin why for some time, and now I have a large chest that makes combating top dysphoria really, really hard. This surgery would help me mentally and physically (I have back problems lol). I do bind when I leave the house but due to chest size and living in Floridian heat, binding is often uncomfortable and makes me overheat, and overheating with a heart condition is dangerous :,) 

Does your insurance not cover this?

I actually dont have insurance! There is a possibility I might get insurance through my moms work soon, but its a very cheap, basic plan, and looking at deductibles and Max Out of Pocket amounts, I would still have to pay for most if not all of this surgery ; n ;

These are the only really big questions I could think of that might come from this but please feel free to ask any more! I will also be trying to set aside as much as I can and adjust the goal as necessary too for transparency :D

***Goal Change Update***

After doing some more research, my ideal surgeon might be Dr Gallagher in Miami. Based on previous experiences from other guys, the cost seems to float around $9500-11500. The major update to the goal is to cover hotel expenses in the Miami area (trying to go cheap), since Ill be from out of town, typically patients have to stay near by for 3-5 days afterwards so I updated the goal to reflect these changes (hotel cost will be around $800). Surgery and hotel expenses are the ones I would need help with the most. Once I get the consultation, and an actual quote I will update the goal again to reflect the true amount needed.
