Help Milena return to her Baseline

on June 7th, 2024, our 3 year old Milena had a febrile seizure while she napped (due simply to the Rotavirus, common cold ) and was entubated as the milk she was drinking got inside her lungs). She was ready to go home when we discovered that the fever caused a massive brain injury (autoimmune leukoencephalopathy with restricted diffusion), to an extent that UCSF Childrens Hospital has rarely seen. After 76 days of a nightmarish hospitalization and initial rehabilitation, she is finally home and heading for outpatient rehabilitation (Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy, as she can't walk, use her right hand and have lost all her words.

Apologies that I am not giving many details, we are severely traumatized as we have seen things that no parent should ever witness.

On top of that, my husband lost his job at around the same time. If anyone has good leads send them our way, he is a Senior Manager in IT Infrastructure Systems with decades of experience but finding a job has also been hard as he’s caring for her and I’ve just started a new job after 7 years

EDIT: Enrico was looking into taking a job in San Jose working over 10h/day but didn't have any remote option; it would be an additional burden for us, along with having little to no vacation offered by the company. So, at this time, he is looking for a remote or hybrid option. He is an extremely resourceful and accomplished in his field, with over 25y of experience, and has never been without a job. we'd be happy to share his resume.

Summary of Milena's situation: Our option is to spend the next 1.5y looking for intensive therapy for her, as in this 2y window she has the best chances of brain recovery. Sadly, UCSF/Stanford are very weak in this regard and we are only finding private local options, which are still not ideal as they are not integrated as she needs, and outside of this area and state there are other options. We are still looking in the Bay Area, and it's so draining to call therapy centers and explain this trauma over, and over, and over again. We both have no family that can come over and help, in this country. As of now we are looking for as many intensive therapies as she can handle, which are the most beneficial to her brain.
