Help Mildred Johnson Fight Breast Cancer

Hi all! I’m Rico Alston and I’m fundraising for my mother Mildred Johnson who was diagnosed with breast cancer last month. My goal is to raise money to pay for the medication, procedures and other costs that aren’t covered by my mother’s insurance. I’m grateful for any donations out there!

After several rigorous procedures over the last two months, my Mom's medical bills are starting to come in, totaling close to $50,000 so far. She has been unable to work for three weeks and is now facing even more tests than expected. The team of doctors are suggesting a drug that could help to dry up the cancer present in her body. They feel this will help her avoid chemotherapy.

I am asking for your donations and prayers to support my mom through her cancer treatment, which has now spread to her lower back and may require chemotherapy. The first mammogram in March showed no abnormalities, whereas a second mammogram in May did show abnormalities. An ultrasound and then a biopsy was ordered. In June, an ER doctor ordered a second ultrasound due to hardness and lumps in her breast. It was at this time the ER doctor confirmed that the cancer had spread to her pelvis and lower back, and informed her this type of cancer is called "Estrogen receptor positive 3" and that it is Stage 4. Her team of doctors then ordered a bone density test followed by a bone scan. She is having a bone biopsy done on July 31st to determine if radiation is necessary. In addition, after months of being in excruciating abdominal pain, the doctors still haven't been able to diagnose what is causing her pain in that region. They are concerned about potential bone cancer and of the cancer spreading to her brain. She has a scheduled brain MRI on August 6th and we hope to know more following the procedure.

My mother is finding the strength for healing through her faith and her community to get through this. In her words: “I’m tired of hurting. I know a lot of people who are praying for me. I believe in the word of prayer. I believe in the authoritative belief of healing. I’m trusting God. I’m trusting these doctors to get me back on my feet where I won’t be in pain.” Your donations will also support her to heal without financial hardship adding to the stress of illness.
