Help Milan Robotics go to Worlds
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Brandy Hicks. I am the Robotics Coach for Milan. I wanted to share the amazing opportunity that our Robotics team has received.
First, I’d like to introduce you to the award-winning Milan Middle School Robotics Team, The Chimichangas. They compete in a program run by VEX IQ Robotics. Our team is composed of 7th and 8th-grade students who are engineers, creators, programmers, problem solvers, and robotic enthusiasts. After three seasons of competing, we had our first team win at the Southeast Indiana Robotics League, which propelled our team to have the opportunity to go to the Indiana State Robotics Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium in March. We are the only team in our county to have accomplished this. These students did so well at the state-level competition that they are now invited to compete in the largest robotics competition in the world, the VEX IQ World Championship in Dallas, Texas, this May. The team excelled and is now determined to take on Worlds, but we need financial support to get our team there. All donations over what is required for travel expenses will be donated to the Robotics Club account to make necessary improvements to bots for next year.
*Our story reminds me of the Milan1954 Miracle. The opportunity to attend state was amazing, but we realized that our robot was small, as was our school. We were competing with large schools with large robots. We were definitely out of our depth competing at such an advanced level, but in the end, our small robot was the little robot that could. Our autonomous programming and driving skills combined earned our team a prestigious spot in the World's Competition.
