Milan Ramsés Juárez Flores is a 3-year-old Venezuelan boy who was born completely healthy. He was a very happy and intelligent child who loved to play and smile. Sadly, in December 2022, when he was 1 year and 5 months old, during a trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a family reunion, he suffered a submersion accident in a swimming pool. He was hospitalized for more than 4 weeks in the Garrahan Hospital, fighting to stay. We received the worst possible diagnosis: the consequences are irreversible, and he wouldn't make it through the first night due to the severe brain damage caused by the lack of oxygen. However, our boy survived the night, but the doctors realized that the consequences were many: dystonia, hypertonia, seizures, and epileptic crises. He didn't follow with his gaze, there was no voluntary movement in his little body, we no longer heard his cries nor saw his smile. He doesn't swallow and, since then, has a tracheostomy and gastrostomy to be able to feed him. In Argentina, they told us: "Get used to your new son."

We returned to Venezuela and have tried all kinds of therapies to try to improve his quality of life without obtaining major results. Milán's diagnosis is always the same: cerebral palsy due to hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy due to the time his brain was without oxygen. Although several doctors have seen him, the only thing they tell us is that he needs to be kept medicated for as long as he can endure it. Just seeing him suffer every day with the crises and continuing with therapies so that his little body doesn't atrophy further due to involuntary movements is very hard. However, after watching the movie "Los 2 hemisferios de Lucca" (Lucca's Two Hemispheres), based on real events, we have seen a light at the end of the tunnel with a medical procedure called Cytotron, a new technology that can help the cellular regeneration of his neurons and thus achieve new connections in his brain that will allow us to advance in his recovery. The center where this procedure is performed is located in Monterrey, Mexico, and it has a high cost.

Therefore, us and our family members, would really appreciate your support and donations for our little Milán Ramsés.
