Milagros is a bright and dedicated Pre-K 3 teacher who has always given her heart to her students and community. On January 11th, her life changed in an instant when a 4-alarm fire tore through her East Orange apartment building. At 6am, she awoke to screams, grabbed her kitten, and ran through thick black smoke to escape. She was admitted to the hospital for smoke inhalation and is now displaced, staying with the Red Cross.
The fire has left Milagros without a home or any of her belongings. The building remains closed off, and renters like Milagros will not receive compensation for what they lost. Despite this, her courage and resilience shine through as she faces the daunting task of starting over.
We are asking for your help to support Milagros as she rebuilds her life. Donations will go directly toward securing temporary housing and replacing the essentials she lost in the fire. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. Please join us in helping Milagros recover and find hope again.
