Hi, my name is Briana, and I’m Mila’s aunt. On September 20, 2024, my 2-year-old niece, Mila Rae, was diagnosed with E. Coli, which produced a toxin called Shiga toxin and led to Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS). Mila’s parents, Kiley and Jose, took her to the emergency room on September 19, 2024, because she wasn’t feeling well. The doctors advised to bring Mila back if she got worse. They returned on Friday, September 20, 2024, when doctors immediately placed her on CRRT dialysis (continuous dialysis).
For the past six days, she has been in the pediatric ICU at Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Mila’s medical team has advised our family that her hospital stay will be a minimum of 3 weeks to 6 months. Mila has needed multiple blood transfusions, platelets, continuous dialysis, and much more. She is still in the ICU but is heading in the right direction.
If you are able to donate any amount, my sister Kiley and Jose would greatly appreciate it. If you can’t donate, please pray for our family and a speedy recovery. Sharing this GoFundMe to help my niece Mila Rae would also mean so much to us.
