Help Mila Overcome Addisonian Crisis

Donation protected
On Wednesday, November 12th, we noticed our happy, energetic puppy Mila started to act very out of character. She became weak, lethargic, and barely wanted to eat — all things that immediately worried us.

Early Thursday morning, November 13th, we rushed Mila to urgent care. We feared she might have eaten something that upset her stomach, but her X-ray came back clear. The vet ran a full blood panel and sent us home. I even mentioned Addison’s Disease, but at the time it didn’t seem to raise concern. We stayed home from work to watch her closely, but Mila continued to decline — refusing Pepcid, barely moving, and seeming increasingly uncomfortable.

By Friday, November 14th, Mila began isolating herself and sleeping almost nonstop. We spent the entire day calling multiple veterinarians, desperate for answers. Finally, around 4 p.m., the urgent care called with her bloodwork results and urged us to take her to the ER immediately. The vet said, “I think you’re right. She could be in Addisonian crisis.”

We rushed her to the emergency hospital, where she was quickly assessed. Her electrolytes were dangerously abnormal — low sodium, high potassium, low glucose, low blood pressure — all signs confirming a life-threatening Addisonian crisis. Mila fought for hours as the medical team worked to stabilize her.

Then we were given the devastating news: we either needed to hospitalize her immediately for $11,000… or consider euthanasia. Hearing those words felt like our worst nightmare. Mila is only 2 years old, full of love, and has never had health issues before. There was no hesitation — we chose to fight for her.

Mila is now hospitalized and fighting hard for her life. We are doing everything we can, but the financial burden is overwhelming and far beyond what we ever expected. This disease can be managed but with life-long treatment and monthly injections.

If you are able to help in any way — whether through donations, sharing this page, or keeping Mila in your thoughts and prayers — we are deeply grateful. Thank you for supporting our girl during the hardest moment of her life.
