Our beloved Mila has been diagnosed with medulloblastoma — a cancerous brain tumor. While Canada offers radiation, it comes with a higher risk of long-term side effects, including hearing loss and developmental delays — risks no child should have to bear. That’s why, after consulting with her doctors, we’ve made the difficult but necessary decision to bring Mila to the Proton Therapy Center in Jacksonville, Florida — one of the few places offering the precise, child-focused treatment she needs to protect her growing brain and body.

Our world has been turned upside down. Mila is the light of our lives — a sweet, smart, and resilient little girl — and right now, she’s facing a battle no child should ever have to fight.

As a recent graduate and single mother, I’ve found myself in this unimaginable situation at a time when my financial situation is already fragile. While the Canadian government will cover Mila’s medical expenses, we’re responsible for everything else — and that burden is overwhelming.
