In March 2021, I received the incredible news that I had secured a place at Oxford University to begin studying my postgraduate degree of Educational Research, Design and Methodology in October. Achieving my goal of completing my undergraduate studies in Early Childhood Studies and having a paper published, I felt things were finally moving in the right direction.
Due to being a single parent and already working, I began to realise that unless I received a scholarship for Oxford, I would not be able to afford the tuition fee combined with travelling. Unfortunately, with very limited scholarships available, I was unsuccessful but still felt determined to take this opportunity, given that they are few and far between for people in my circumstances.
This degree would open more doors for my career in education research, with aspirations of working in the civil service to drive forward a change in our primary school curriculum. Taking a maximum loan from student finance of £11000, I am still £3000 under my target for the tuition fees plus travel on top.
Any donation is greatly appreciated in order to achieve my goals to provide a better life for my family and strive for change in our children’s lives.
