I’m Mikey Colvin, and together with my companion Minnie, we’ve been doing everything we can to stay afloat after becoming homeless. For the past few months, Wendy’s has been our makeshift office, where we, a Microsoft® Registered Refurbisher, do just that (refurbish PCs)

and try to keep our business alive. Our van has been our lifeline, packed with most of our inventory and serving as our only means of transportation and shelter.

Recently, we faced a devastating setback. We lost a significant amount of inventory when our storage unit suffered water damage and a severe rat infestation. When we reported the problem, the storage facility gave us just six days to move out, leaving us scrambling to salvage what we could of our 100K plus inventory since 2002. The van became so overloaded with what we managed to save that a rear tire popped. Then, just a week before we were supposed to move into a new business space—a crucial step toward stability—our van was towed. Now, we’re at risk of losing nearly everything! Legally we can try to recover from the storage loss, but need funding for that, if not at least maybe what may still remain in the van.

We’re reaching out for help because we’re so close to turning things around. Securing a business space will give us a safe place to work, store our inventory, and sleep. It’s our best shot at rebuilding, continuing to refurbish and sell electronics, and working toward permanent housing. If you’re able to contribute or share our story, it would mean the world to us.
