Help Mikey Get the Brain Surgery He Needs

Hi, my name is Molly, and I’m the proud mom of Mikey—our sweet, strong, medically complex toddler. I’m reaching out with a mother’s heart, asking for help as we prepare for Mikey’s upcoming brain surgery.

Why Mikey Needs Surgery

After a routine MRI this summer, we learned that Mikey’s Chiari Malformation had slightly progressed, and more fluid was building along his spine. This condition can lead to serious and irreversible complications, including difficulty walking, nerve damage, and long-term mobility issues.

His neurosurgeon recommended we schedule a posterior fossa decompression surgery this summer or fall to prevent further decline. We've now scheduled his brain surgery for September 18th.

What This Means for Our Family

We live four hours away from the hospital, and Mikey will need multiple pre-op appointments, as well as an extended hospital stay that could last 7–14 days due to his complex medical history. Doctors are also requiring us to stay in the area for a few days after discharge to monitor him closely.

This creates a financial strain on our family—emotionally, physically, and financially.

❤️ Why We’re Asking for Help

We are a one-income family, and Mikey’s dad will need to take time off work to care for Mikey and help support him through recovery. We also have two teenage daughters at home who rely on us.

Travel expenses for pre-op, surgery, and recovery (gas, lodging, food)

Uncovered medical costs
