Help Mikey feel at home
Donation protected
This is our Mikey husband, father, brother and best friend a man loved by everyone who ever knew him.
Sadly on the 16th of April 2019 Mikey fell 30 feet off a roof after being asked by an elderly neighbour to clean the gutters on his roof, my dad being the gentleman that he is couldn't say no and if he had refused he wouldn't be the man we all love.
As a result of this horrific accident Dad was rushed to limerick hospital and due to the complications of his injury was sent to Cork University Hospital where we had to receive the devastating news my dad was going to have to have major surgery that would result in him having to have a part of his frontal lobe removed and the heartbreak of having to watch the love of all our lives suffer and endure the torture of being in a coma for six weeks. After a grueling 3 months Dad finally woke up only to realize that he had two compound fractures in his lower spine again finding himself under the knife with another complicated procedure which has completely restricted his movement , sadly a man that was active everyday of his life after months of rehabilitation has now found himself in a house he always called a home was now unsuitable for the injuries that are now part of his everyday life. It is our hope that he gets what he deserves and that is a home that he can have a quality of life having some independence. We want to make it wheel chair accessible so that he is not restricted to just one room in the house. The money raised here will go towards an extension that will facilitate my dads needs for him to able to have the comfort he deserves after working hard all his life,Our hope is for Dad to have enough independence to be able to make himself at home in a house hes only ever known , to be able to go out his back garden and sit and watch the sun rise and set . After the accident and the injuries he sustained there were times we were told he would not make it, We are so happy that everyday we still have our Mikey , but after a year of Mikey being in a number of hospitals around the country we are not in a position to cover the cost of the adjustments required , so please if you can help us to alter his house back into his home we will be forever grateful thank you for taking the time to read our story.
