Help Mikey Bounce Back After the Palisades Fire

Mikey Ronge is a local surfer, inventor and lifelong Malibu resident. Like many in the Palisades fire, he lost everything he owns. Mikey lived in this house, which housed everything he owned. His parents moved into the Sunset Mesa neighborhood of Malibu in 1986, it’s where they raised their 3 kids and Mikey, his brother and his parents still shared the house. Their neighborhood was one of the first hit in the fire, and it left approximately 30-40 of the 400 houses standing. Mikey was not home when it happened, and was not able to get back to grab any of his belongings. His parents got out safely with their cat, and barely anything else.

Mikey not only lost his childhood and current home, he lost everything that wasn’t with him - his computer, 3D printer, inventions, surfboards, clothing, tools and more. In particular, he wants to replace his computer and surfboards, as well as smaller day to day items. Known to his friends as an inventor, Mikey is a quiet genius that has spent his life tinkering away mostly on boats and surf related inventions. Some of which were built by hand, others were designed on his computer and printed on a 3D printer. He lost his computer, everything on it (a lifetime of work and designs as well as highly specialized programs), his 3D printer and a lifetime of work - all the art and physical inventions he’s ever created. Surfboards might seem superfluous if you’re not an avid surfer, but as any lifelong surfer knows, they’re your lifeline to keeping you grounded. In addition to these bigger items, Mikey is now realizing how many small day to day items, like clothes and tools, that he’s without.

Mikey is our family, he’s like a brother to Gabe. He’s currently part of our full loving home of evacuated family members. Mikey is the most giving, purest person everyone knows. If you ask the surfers up and down the coast, I’m sure the consensus is that he rips and that he’s the nicest guy around. So now we want to give back to Mikey, help him get back on his feet after this devastating loss. He’s the guy who would never ask for help, so we’re stepping in to help him. We know that a lot of people and organizations need support right now, and we’re grateful that if you have something extra to give that you consider helping us in supporting our brother Mikey.
