Help Mike Tomaino Overcome Health Challenges

Hi my name is Angel and today I’m here to ask for help in supporting my dad, Mike Tomaino, through a difficult time. Mike graduated from "Mariner" / "White Bear Lake High School Area South Campus in 1985. Since then, Mike has been married and divorced, he has 4 Children and 7 grand children.

Mike has held a few different hats in his lengthy career he has been very hard working, putting in many overtime hours to raise his family. His last job was working as a Tractor Trailer & Dump Truck Driver for the last 3 years for a trucking company in the North Metro Area.  In February of 2024 Mike had injured his back while at work.  A piece of ice 20' X 5' X 6-8" thick came off the side dump trailer that Mike was cleaning the ice out of and struck him in the back with great force.  Mike just sucked it up and kept on working like a lot of men of his generations would do.

On July 5th 2024 Mike was getting out of the cab of his truck and his grip slipped as there were not proper grab handles on the truck he was driving that day. Mikes Left hand had a solid grip so it snapped very hard causing 3 tears in his rotator cuff and 1 tear in his bicep while he tried to pull himself up from falling off the truck.  The damage viewed via ultrasound, he has not had a MRI because the work comp has denied the scan, and Mike doesn't have the money to get one done on his own.  There could be more damage than what is currently known. Mike will need some surgeries in the near future to fix his shoulder and bicep tears.

Mike has CLL Leukemia, and Cerebrospinal fluid on the back inside of his skull and spine, causing a number of issues to his nervous system and causing debilitating pain in his head and neck.

Mike also has an enlarged swollen spleen and Lymph nodes causing him pain on his Left side, Mike also has type 2 Diabetes causing kidney pain in his lower back.  Mike is on meds for that as well. Mike also has severe degenerative disks in his back and pinched Sciatic joints in L 2, 3, 4. Mike has suffered for 5 years of Sinus infections through many multiple lengthy rounds of antibiotics. This causes Mike to not being able to sleep more than a couple of hours a day, also not including his back & shoulder pain.

Mike has done everything he can from physical therapy, to the pain clinic, to using heave pain killer regiment to manage all of these issues to include other issues listed below.

Mike filed a work comp claim for his injuries in July of 2024 since then work comp has denied his claim based upon prior injury. He also filed for unemployment, but he was denied it after a hearing online with an MN unemployment judge. Mike is completely unable to work with all the issues listed in this context. To include non-work related issues:

His Left knee needs to be replaced, his Right ankle needs to be replaced, Mike is on MANY different kinds of medications for all his ongoing issues that as we know are not cheap. Mike hasn't had any income since July 5th 2024, his car insurance has lapsed, he is nearly 4 months behind in his rent and is facing eviction unless something changes very soon. Mike has been borrowing money to pay for his medication and going to the food shelves to get food to eat. In desperation, Mike has also put up his car for sale on Marketplace in order to help pay for his prior and current living and medication expenses.
