Hi. My name is Willie Macc. I want to talk to you about Mike Kirschenbaum, my friend.
For years, Mike has been battling a rare blood cancer (Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia) and COPD, which every year becomes more of a struggle. In the last few years, the cancer has caused neuropathy in Mike’s feet and legs. Besides being very painful, it has resulted in falls, causing a broken bone and two fractures in his spine.
Living alone with just his dog Rainbow, these ailments clearly have caught up to him. And being unable to work these past few years has erased his savings. Consequently, he can no longer afford his longtime place of residence.
The best course of action is to get Mike into a quality assisted living facility where he can get the daily support he needs. But there is a lengthy process to be accepted in the government program Mike would require. If we can help Mike stay in his apartment, get the day-to-day and medical help he needs until that assistance comes through, it would make all the difference in the world. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
