Help Mike Thomas Fight Cancer!
Donation protected
My brother, Mike, had tough news this past Thanksgiving. His colon cancer is back and it has spread to his liver and possibly lungs. We will be following up hopefully with an oncologist but he is underemployed from COVID and has horrible self-employment insurance that requires him to pay upfront then they reimburse. Needless to say, he does not have these funds after fighting cancer for 4 years. Many of the treatments that he needs for pain are not covered. It is of the utmost urgency to seek methods of financial assistance for him. He is such a beautiful, loving and talented soul. My heart is breaking and truly would appreciate any help no matter how small that people could donate to help him. These are his words below:
My last stand.
I was diagnosed with a 40cm tumor in my descending colon in February of 2016. Through natural treatments and close test monitoring, I was able to shrink the tumor down to 6cm, but it never got any smaller. I was stable for a few years, but now it’s back with a vengeance. Chemo was never an option for me, I had witnessed what it had done to too many of my dead friends over the years.
I had 2 previous cancers, the holistic approach really appealed to me when I was diagnosed the 3rd time. I didn’t want any more recurrences. I survived Skin and Kidney, now we have to beat colon and liver, and unfortunately, possibly lung. Despite my best efforts, and much success with healing other things, it’s time for cutting edge technology to help if it can. The hospital I have chosen has been treating stage 4 cancer patients for over 50 years. State of the art treatments (considered experimental), many of which are not available in my country.
During Covid, I foolishly let my testing lapse, I couldn’t afford it, my income is down over 80 percent this year, I previously worked in entertainment and tourism marketing. I also wanted to limit my exposure, being high risk.
6 months later, the Cancer has spread throughout the intestines and there’s now a large tumor pressing on my bile duct (the reason for my most recent ER trip).
I’ve had to give up my 30 year business, my home in Missouri, had to sell everything I had of value, and have my 80+ year old parents drove from Florida to Missouri, with a 4x8 trailer to get me and what was left of my personal things.
I live quietly in their small spare bedroom now. I can’t tell you how much it frustrates me not to be able to help them at all. Its not supposed to be them, still trying to help me. It is a very humbling experience.
The 3 of us live off their social security. Thank God their only debt is the house.
I had a consultation with CHIPSA, I have been accepted, they are thinking the new vaccine will work. I have another consultation coming up on the exact specifics of the proposed treatments, but without reaching my goal soon, I may not have time. I am 6’5 tall, I was 255lbs at the start of this, today I am at 145lbs, and dropping. If I don’t stop the tumor from pressing on my bile duct, soon, there may not be a 2021 year in store for me. Please help if you can, God Bless. I know we are all struggling right now.
