Today, Mike completed his journey with cancer and has peacefully passed away. Our hearts are completely broken.

Over the past months, he went through more than anyone should ever have to face. The lung cancer, the huge tumor pressing on everything, the kidney lesion, the heart failure, the respiratory problems, the infections… it was one thing after another. Even when his body was giving out, he never stopped trying. He never stopped caring. He never stopped being himself.

We chose to share his journey publicly because we wanted people to understand what he was going through and because he always believed in being honest and open. And in return, so many of you showed up for him; with messages, prayers, donations, kind words, and love. I can’t express how much that meant. He felt that support. We all did.

Losing him hurts but I’m grateful that he’s finally at peace and no longer suffering. He deserved so much better than the pain he went through.

Thank you to everyone who has been here for us. Your kindness made a difference, even in the smallest ways. We’ll carry his spirit and his strength with us as we press forward with the celebration of life and funeral in the upcoming weeks. For those interested, I will provide an update on a location/time when this happens.

Mike, affectionately known as “The Amazing Mike,” is a beacon of kindness, resilience, and positivity. His warmth and strength have touched countless lives, and now, he faces one of life's most challenging battles: lung cancer. Diagnosed with Stage 3B squamous cell lung cancer, with a large tumor (currently at 12 x 8.4 cm) causing severe compression of vital structures, along with a lesion on his kidney, Mike’s fight is complex and urgent. He is also battling congestive heart failure, respiratory issues, sepsis, hyperkalemia, tachycardia, and other serious conditions, making his journey even more daunting.

We as a family decided to let this vulnerable information public to further advocate for the community to understand and support this stage of Mike’s journey. Despite these hardships, Mike’s spirit remains steadfast, and his courage continues to inspire everyone around him. The path ahead may be tough, involving intensive treatments, hospital stays, and uncertain outcomes, but your support can make a meaningful difference.
