Help Mike Shortino Fight Cancer

This Go Fund Me page has been set up for our brother, Mike Shortino, to assist with medical bills and provide temporary support for his family during his cancer treatment. Mike has recently been diagnosed with head and neck cancer and is in a battle for his life to be here to raise his two little boys, Sam (age 5) and Anthony (age 4). As many of you may know, Mike is self-employed, so the ability to pay medical bills and sustain monthly expenses will be greatly affected by his inability to work during treatment. During the next several months while he is recuperating from the recent surgery performed to remove his tumor, he wants to work and will try to as much as he is able - so if you need a DJ, he says to call him because he'd rather be working and doesn't like asking for help. If you know our brother, you know that this is typical of him...radiation & chemo will effect his strength, his endurance, his speech, and his ability to swallow - but he still wants to work, because that's the kind of guy he is - determined, hardworking, doesn't give up, and will do anything to take care of his family. However, we know this is going to be tougher than he thinks, and he's going to need assistance in every way possible, as his strength & his condition will severely limit what he can do. And the chemo and radiation treatments, starting tomorrow December 5th, will prevent him from working at all.

Mike is supporting his daughter Marina while she's in college, and his two small sons. Recovering from surgery and preparing for chemo and radiation is a challenge in and of itself, but trying to support his family & pay extensive medical bills without being able to earn an income adds additional worry and stress on someone who's health has already been compromised and weakened, and will be even more so during chemo and radiation. 

The Shortino's are a very strong faith-filled family, and we are going to do our best to keep him strong and keep him with us for many years to come.  We're told Mike has a long road to recovery ahead of him and will need all the love and support he can get throughout this battle, so we offer our deepest gratitude for any and all prayers. Any kindness or gesture of support you can show him during this difficult time is also greatly appreciated; and any contribution, no matter how small, will help with medical costs as well as day-to-day needs to sustain his family while he combats this life-threatening disease.  A small $5, $10, or $25 contribution will go a long way towards helping him concentrate on getting through this, instead of worrying about how he's going to pay the medical bills, make college payments, feed his kids, and keep a roof over their heads while he's unable to work.

Mike has been there for so many people over the years. Always willing to help out and make all of our special moments in life more memorable. With his invaluable DJ expertise I'm sure he has made your wedding, Bar or Bat Mitzvah, New Years Eve, birthday or corporate party one that no one will forget.
