My name is Mike Tavares, I am almost three years post from receiving my BFA in Studio Arts in ceramics from Syracuse University. Diligently working alone I feel I have exhausted my learning experiences here in my home town of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. I am ready for the next chapter. I have been accepted to be Simon Levin's apprentice and will be moving from Pawtucket, RI to Springfield, Illinois. I am in need of guidance in all areas of becoming a professional practicing artist: sharpening my skills, better developing my voice, understanding the finances, marketing, teaching, planning for workshops and writing. I have committed to the apprentice for a full year. It is a tremendous and rare opportunity. In order to make the transition and maximize work and study with Simon, I need financial assistance.

My goal is to raise $12,000. Your donations will cover:

-Cross county travel
-Housing
-Utilities
-Basic furniture
-Groceries.

Your support will allow me to make learning and establishing myself as an artist my full time focus. Your generosity will allow me to get settled and immediately start working, eliminating the strain of everyday basic needs that would take me away from soaking up as much as I can with Simon.
