Help Mike Penner cover Medical Bills and Rehab
You never think you have to reach out for help until you are faced with hardships and challenges, and that is what my brother Mike Penner is facing now to literally get back on his feet. Sometimes you work hard and pay your bills, but one bad situation comes along, knocks you down, and makes getting back up a challenge on your own.
Mike finds himself in that type of situation where a little help will go along way.....
The story:
Mike had made a decision to change his diet and get into better shape, and had made significant progress towards that end. However, a couple of months into the program, he developed a sore on his foot, and like most of us, didn't really think too much of it, just cleaned and dressed it and let it heal... Unfortunately, it didn't heal up like he expected.
The sore started to develop into a wound and became infected, so he went to the Urgent Care, and they put him on an antibiotic, and told him that he might need a different antibiotic depending on the lab results.
The results came in and they prescribed a different medication, but it did not seem to be getting better, in fact is seemed to be getting worse.
About this time, as he was going to go seek additional care and evaluation, as walking and working was becoming difficult, the wound "burst" on him and he went to the Emergency Room for evaluation.
This led to the discovery that he had undiagnosed Diabetes, and that the wound had in fact become necrotic and spread into not only the surrounding tissue but the bone as well.
Due to this necrosis, Mike needed immediate admission to the hospital, specialized care, and unfortunately, this meant partial amputation of his foot....
While the surgery has gone well and he is recovering, Mike's insurance only covers 70% of astronomical costs, and as I as I am sure you can imagine, the Hospital and Doctor bills that are beginning to arrive are daunting.
He is currently unable to work until he fully heals and may not be able to return to his job due to the nature of the injury, as it required him to be on his feet constantly. Mike absolutely plans to return to working as soon as possible, but could really use a helping hand to get back on his feet and get some relief from the bills that are piling up.
Any donation you might offer would be most welcome and greatly appreciated...
Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity in helping Mike recover and rebuild his life
