Help Mike Mottice Pay for Cancer Treatments

My dad's back started hurting a few weeks ago and he was having issues urinating and some issues with his legs and weakness. He made an appointment to go to the doctor but the doctor got sick and his appointment had to be canceled. He continued to get worse and have issues with his legs. On Wednesday March 1st my mom and I urged him to go to the ER. He didn't want to and went to work Thursday morning. He called me at 730 and asked me to come into Cibos and finish his shift. When I got there he was having trouble walking. He could barely stand from the toilet.
My mom took him to the ER at Mercy. He was in the ER for 10+ hours getting a catscan, MRI, bloodwork and numerous other tests. His PSA and Alkaline phosphatase were both off the charts. PSA should have been between 2-4 but his was over 600. Alkaline phosphatase should be about 115 but his is over 800. His prostate was swollen, he has an umbilical hernia and has a glassy spot on his lung that is 10mm in size.
More tests.
The current diagnosis is stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. The mri showed 2 masses on his spine.
The oncologist is hopeful that this is treatable and will be able to be lived with.
He did a bone scan today and the bone scan showed cancer throughout his entire body from his skull to his knees. The only places he doesn't have it are his hands, shins and feet. One of the masses is around his spine and in danger of compressing his spinal cord and paralyzing him. With this new info they have decided that there is no time to wait for the biopsy to confirm the prostate cancer diagnosis. They are starting radiation tomorrow.
He will have 10 radiation appointments over the next 2 weeks. And then he will be following up with the oncologist to do infusions of hormone therapy. They have already started the hormone blockers and some aggressive steroids. This has greatly increased his mobility and decreased his pain.
On Wednesday he had the biopsy on his femur. The biopsy will confirm that this is prostate cancer that is spreading and not a different type of cancer. The best case scenario right now is that this is prostate cancer that has spread and not lung or bone cancer that has spread. With prostate cancer it will be treatable but not curable. He will be able to live with this as long as we can get it to stop growing.
If you know my dad you know that he has the whole hospital laughing and is making friends at every test. He is keeping his spirits high and readying himself for this battle!
