If you know Mike Jenkins, you know his heart. You know his quiet strength, his sense of humor, his love for his family and friends—and how he’s always been someone you could count on.

What many don’t know is that Mike has been silently battling sarcoidosis since his 20s, a disease that attacked his lungs and slowly stole his breath, his energy, and his freedom. For years, he pushed through, never one to complain. But over the past five years, his condition took a devastating turn. And for the last 18 months, Mike’s health declined so severely that even the simplest tasks became a struggle.

Eventually, there was only one option left: a double lung transplant.

Eight weeks ago, Mike was placed on the transplant list. Just eight days later, he got the first call. But it ended in heartbreak—the lungs weren’t viable. Then, on July 17th at 7:45 AM, the phone rang again. This time… it felt different.

By 9:30 AM, Mike was at the hospital. At 2:30 PM, the lungs were confirmed. At 5:15 PM, they took him back for surgery. And by 3:30 AM the next morning, Mike had received the gift of life.

But the fight didn’t end there—it’s just beginning.

Mike is now in the middle of the most difficult battle of his life: recovering and healing from this major surgery. It will take time, strength, and an unwavering will to live—something he has in abundance. But it will also take something we can help with, support.

The financial burden on Mike and his wife, Darlene, is overwhelming. There are mounting costs for medical care, rehab, medication, and travel to and from the hospital. Mike will need constant care and close monitoring in the months ahead—and we want to make sure finances don’t stand in the way of his healing.

We are asking—humbly and from the bottom of our hearts—for your help. Mike has now been discharged home and still has to heal and rehab. He has been making great progress in the first week home, but this is just the very beginning of this new journey. This new life comes with many challenges, hard work, and life sustaining medications.
