Help Mike Heal: Support His Recovery Journey

Hello everyone. Just a quick update on Mike. He is now home recovering he will have a follow up appointment with the surgeon in two weeks. He does have a staph infection deep under the skin. They did remove what they could and treated with strong antibiotics. We can not thank everyone enough for the outpouring support and love!

Hi, my name is Sonja, and I’m Mike’s niece. I’m reaching out on behalf of someone who means the world to me—and to so many others. Right now, Mike is in a hospital in Las Vegas, with no clear timeline for when he’ll be able to come home.

Just five days ago, while working hard driving for Uber, Mike suddenly felt a strange “pop” in his body. Within an hour, he was battling fever, chills, and overwhelming sickness. He pushed through the night, determined to finish his shift, but his symptoms quickly worsened. By the time he made it home, he was dizzy, confused, and feeling even more unwell.

Mike hoped some rest would help, but as the days passed, it became clear that this wasn’t something he could fight on his own. When he finally made it to the emergency room, doctors discovered a severe internal infection and immediately rushed him into emergency surgery, fearing sepsis. They’re now awaiting culture results and have him on powerful antibiotics to control the infection.

As if that wasn’t enough, Mike has also been battling pneumonia and complications from his COPD just weeks before this ordeal began. It’s been one thing after another, and it’s taking a toll on his health and spirit.

Unfortunately, as a full-time Uber driver, Mike doesn’t have the safety net of health insurance, and the medical bills are already piling up. He’s unable to work during this recovery period, leaving him in a financial crisis on top of everything else.

Mike has always been the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He has such a kind and generous heart, and now he needs our help. Let’s come together to support Mike in this incredibly challenging time so he can focus on what truly matters: healing and recovery.
