Supporting Mike's Path to Recovery.
I am reaching out to ask for your help as my best friend, Mike, takes the scary and brave step of entering a rehabilitation program. His long journey of addiction led him to many failed attempts at sobriety on his own. The financial burden of treatment and missed work is a significant hurdle.
Mike was introduced to crystal meth just out of high school by another person with bad intentions. He has suffered for over 12 years now. He still has room in his heart to give to others when he is sober. I've seen him give his gloves to someone who was cold, bring snacks and small gifts to coworkers, make kids laugh and play games with them and make his parents full of joy as their only son. Mike is always there for anyone when he is sober. He has so many dreams. Everyone loves him and misses the joy that he brings.
The addiction has taken all of that away. It's become so strong that he has lost his will. He stays in his room for days and even a week at a time without sleep or food, with suicidal thoughts and some close encounters with suicide. It has affected all of his relationships with everyone. The addiction is so strong now, and he needs professional care. He has tried local community programs, but they only help once or twice, then it transitions to costly private help that he can't pay for.
By a lucky chance, Mike got an opportunity to get into an inpatient 30-day rehabilitation program, a situation that he made happen during a brief time of sobriety. He got less than 24 hours notice and had to make a choice, or else the opportunity would disappear. It was an answer to prayers. But he wanted more notice and struggled with the short notice. He chose to go to rehab on his own. But there is a copay and insurance deductibles upfront, and he is behind on insurance premiums, car payments, cell phone, and other bills because he has lost his will. Please help Mike.
The attached photos show my friend Mike in happy moments when he has short lived days off the drug. There is also a photo from today. Sad, scared, hurting and depressed. Please help bring back Mike full of love and life.
Your donations will directly cover insurance deductibles, copays, and medical fees. They will cover expenses and basic bills during his 30-day stay in rehab. They will also cover accrued due bills (car insurance, car payment, cell phone, etc.) due to the ravages of addiction. There may be post-rehab support services and therapy. This will help Mike to start out after rehabilitation with a clearer path. To continue sobriety and rebuild. He will be successful with this rehabilitation.
Please consider donating any amount or sharing this page with your network. Anything is appreciated. Your kindness provides Mike with the peace of mind needed to focus entirely on healing. Thank you for being part of his life-changing journey. He is strong, and given a little financial help, will help him during and after rehabilitation. I would be so grateful.
Update: Mike finished the 30 days, but requested to stay 15 more days if the insurance covers. He is doing well and really working hard with the counselors and staff at rehab to be successful when he leaves. The extra days will really help. Your donations and sharing the GoFundMe with others really help. Thank you.
