Help Mike Heal After Life-Changing Surgery
Hello all, my name is Mike. Over the last 9 months, I have been dealing with an infection in my right foot. In March, I received one of the surgeries that would remove part of the pinky toe on my right foot. Then, a week later, I had a second surgery to remove the entire pinky toe and part of the foot bone beneath the pinky toe. So now I need to heal, but as a diabetic of 20 plus years, it's not an easy task.
Fast forward to September when the wounds are healed, which means no more cast on my foot and no more stem cells in the wounds to help heal. So now the doctor tells me I can work 4 hours a day for two weeks, and if things go well for the two weeks, then I can go back to work full time. Well, all sounds good to me, but life had a different idea. After 3 days of 4 hours, my foot swelled up and turned bright red, which meant my foot was infected again. So back to the hospital for another MRI to find there are now three areas of infection in my right foot. So now I'm sitting down with another surgeon to find out my options. Well, what the surgeon tells me is not what anyone ever wants to hear: I was told that the foot, ankle, and part of the leg need to be removed.
On October 22, 2024, I had the surgery that did just that.
