One of the strongest people I know is going through some of the toughest times, but you won’t hear him complain. Instead he’ll ask how YOU are and thank God for another day. My step dad, Mike Groll, has been battling cancer after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma last year. At first it seemed like treatment was going to be short, but after the initial surgery and chemotherapy came the bad news... his form was aggressive and not responding well. Fast forward to now after multiple rounds of chemo and participating in a clinical trial where he is about be admitted for a stem cell transplantation, and times are TOUGH. At a time they should be focusing on treatment and recovery, they are faced with financial burdens that no one can ever really be prepared for. They have been commuting 6 hours round trip multiple days weekly due to the inability to stay near the hospital due to Covid-19, and even if the travel restrictions were lifted, the financial strain would be too great to stay in temporary lodging as often as needed. Mike has been out of work for months and my mom is his primary care giver making it impossible for her to work outside the home. The medical bills are mounting and the travel expenses are adding undue stress at a time that they should be focused on his health and future. Please contribute if you can, and share even if you can’t. Above all else, pray for healing and answers. I will update as he enters into the next phase in the coming weeks. Thank you for your consideration and prayers.
