Help Mike Get Back on Two Wheels! ‍

Donation protected
Hi legends,

My name's Tanya, and I’m here to call on the incredible power of the community. My 13-year-old son Mike needs a little help to get back on the road (literally).

For Mike, his bike isn’t just a means of transportation—it’s freedom. It’s the wings that take him to the Redcliffe Jetty, the Scarborough fishing spots, and the lagoon for a swim with his mates. He’s not one of those teens glued to a screen all day. Nope, Mike’s out there exploring the world—on two wheels.

About 18 months ago, an amazing friend gifted Mike a beautiful mountain bike. It quickly became his prized possession, so much so that we always kept it in top shape. He washes it, greeses the chain, new tyres, new brakes—you name it. That bike was built to last.

Then, April 5th happened.
Mike rode his bike to Kippa Ring Shops for a sushi outing with his mates, but forgot his bike lock (lesson learned, trust me). He left it by the escalators near Ed’s PC’s, and in the blink of an eye—gone. Between 2:20 pm and 2:30 pm, some absolute MOFO decided the bike was theirs.

Despite our efforts—posting photos, chasing leads down Anzac Ave, and enlisting the kind support of our community—the bike hasn’t been found. Honestly, it’s looking grim.

But this story isn’t just about a stolen bike. I wanted to use this as a teachable moment for Mike. I told him, "For every MOFO in the world, there are even more good people who have your back." Asking for help isn’t easy, but sometimes it takes a village, right?

Mike doesn’t think anyone would want to help him get a new bike, but I want to prove him wrong - by telling him to pick out his dream bike. And now, I’m turning to you, our amazing friends, family, and community.

We’re aiming to raise $1,200 to make this dream a reality and get Mike a half-decent bike that’ll last him years (and a better lock—lesson learned!). Big or small, every single contribution makes a difference.

Why help Mike?
~ Because he’s one of the good ones, a kid out exploring the outdoors, not stuck inside.
~ Because he’s learned a tough lesson but hasn’t lost hope.
~ Because these little acts of kindness show the next generation just how amazing our community can be.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. From the bottom of my heart—thank you. Every big and little bit helps get Mike back out there, where he belongs. Proud of his wheels.

Cheers and again, thank you,
Tanya (Mike’s Mum) New master of 'cringe' after Mike reads this.

P.S. Sharing this far and wide would mean the world to us!
P.S.S. THANK YOU to Matt.G for dropping a bike around on Sunday for Mike to ride in the mean time, it means the world, especially as we're in school holidays!
P.S.S.S. Thank you to everyone who has offered to give him a bike they no longer use XOXO
