My name is Mike. In 2024 I began loosing my ability to walk due to a rare spinal cord defect. It left me mostly paralyzed from the belly button down. My surgeon said it's the most severe case of Tethered Cord Syndrome he's ever seen.
My current wheelchair is broken and doesn't fit right. I was forced to buy it used when it became clear I'd probably never walk again.
I had set up payment for a custom chair with a government agency in summer 2025, I was supposed to get it by October, but then they backed out last minute. Why, you ask? Because apparently being admitted to the hospital for a week means they get to cut my benefits! Ever since I was released, they've been refusing to fix their mistake. And now my team has been ghosting me.
The ultimate goal is a Tilite Z with a comfort unite 2 backrest, m2 cushion, and empulse r90 system, since that's what was deemed medically necessary by my care team. 11 months ago.
