Help Mike Fitzpatrick with Essential Transport
Donation protected
As many of you know, our dear friend and volunteer Young Life leader Mike "Fitz" Fitzpatrick went into the hospital in early March 2024 for emergency colon surgery. He finally returned home in mid-December after a 9-month health rollercoaster in multiple hospitals and rehab facilities.
Mike is thrilled to be at home with Patty, his family, and the dogs. It could take up to a year for Fitz's legs to recover from months of mostly being in a hospital bed. He still has medical and other appointments to get to on a weekly basis and a transport service can cost over $500 for a single appointment. Local rental rates for a van with wheelchair access are $185 for 1-day, $945 for 1-week, $3300 for 1-month!
This week they found and purchased a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan with a BraunAbility wheelchair conversion for $15,800. A mechanic-friend inspected the vehicle and gave it "two thumbs up" saying it is in "very good condition."
We are hoping to raise enough to cover the purchase of this essential piece of equipment to lighten the financial burden of the Fitzpatricks as they navigate this new season of Mike at home needing transportation with wheelchair accommodation.
So many people have asked how they can help the Fitzpatricks and we are asking if you would consider getting involved in this van purchase through small and large donations. Every gift will help!
