Help Mike fight his brain tumor

This fundraiser is set up to help Mike (Dietrich) Prodoehl, and his wife Mircellia, with medical expenses related to Mike's brain tumor.  In late August, Mircellia was woken up when Mike experienced a seizure in the middle of the night.  Mike woke up in the hospital, where they were told that Mike had a brain tumor.  While the tumor is benign (non-cancerous), it is still growing, and putting pressure on his brain, which is what caused his seizure.  He was put on anti-seizure medication, and has to be careful not to risk injuring himself further in case he has another seizure.  His employer has been unable to give him much work, as most of Mike's duties involved working on ladders many feet off the ground.  A fall from which could cause Mike permanent injury.

After a CT Scan, MRI, and ongoing doctor's visits, Mike was told that the brain tumor is operable, but that Mike will be unable to work for at least six weeks after surgery.  With Mike's hours at work drastically cut, they have been unable to pay rent and utilities, and have had to rely on the help of friends for food.  They are in dire need of financial aid so that they can focus on getting Mike's surgery completed so that the healing can begin.  Instead, they are having to worry about whether they will be evicted, or how long they can make their groceries last.

I've known Mike for over 20 years, and when I think of him, the first thing I think of is his big heart.  If anyone was in need of help, he was always available.  He never hesitated to either lend a hand or financial aid wherever it was needed.  If every person who he has helped would donate $5, we would reach our goal.

I will post updates on Mike's upcoming surgery, which will be at OHSU in Portland, Oregon, and the procedure is expected to take six hours.  Thankfully, Mike's surgeon is extremely experienced at these types of surgeries, which will involve removing a portion of Mike's skull in order to be able to reach the tumor, which is the size of a plum.  Removal of the tumor is expected to relieve the pressure on Mike's brain, and he is expected to make a full recovery.  Please pass along thoughts and prayers, and words of encouragement for both of them.
