Help Mike fight GBM!

Donation protected
My name is Mike Hicks. I was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer, stage 4 on 11/25/2018.  I am 59 and in the prime of my life . With treatment, my doctor has advised I have 14-15 months, with 5% surviving 2 years and 3% beyond that.

Although I started exhibiting symptoms in October 2018, I was miss diagnosed by my primary care physician. After 6 weeks of continual decline, complete loss of use of right arm and beginning loss of use of right leg, Kim and I went to the emergency room, it was there they preformed a CT scan and discovered the tumor.

I am determined to be a survivor. I have so much left to do! I have 2 beautiful granddaughters JeriAnn and Jentri and a brand new grandson Morgan. I have to be in that 3 percent!

There are three things common among survivors
1. Access to good medical care
2. A good support group of family and friends
3. Survivors don't drastically change their lives

Number 1: The reason I have started the Go Fund Me page. Obviously access to the latest and best medicine and treatment is important, The other part about good medicine is you must believe your're doing what you need to be a survivor. I feel very confident I have good medical care at OU Stephenson Cancer Center. I want to be able to continue with this care, and to do so,. Because my illness was late in the year, I must pay my insurance deductible and co-pay for 2018  and now turn around and pay my deductible and co-pay again for 2019 . My Chemotherapy medicine and driving expense to radiation. My Chemotherapy is pill form and taken daily, For the radiation starting Jan 2, 2019, I will travel 240 miles round trip to Oklahoma City for 30  fifteen minute treatments.

Number 2: When taking on a challenge or fight of this magnitude, you need to believe you can win. A good support group gives you that. I have so many family and friends around me that care and love me and are encouraging me to fight and  win.

Number 3:  I have read and am told survivors do not drastically change their lives.  Since my surgery on 11/29/2018, I have been going through intense grief for me and my family. I now believe I can not let grief cloud my judgement or overwhelm me. Survivors believe they are going to survive and that is what I am doing. I haven't worked since 11/23/2018, but I am determined to get back to my job with some modification as I have not regained use of my right arm and limited use of right leg.
Please help me accomplish all of these goals and more.
