Michael “Mikey” Costa is only 45 years old and is preparing to undergo a bone marrow transplant following a recent life-altering and life-threatening diagnosis.
Mike is a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, a loving father to two young children, a brother to three siblings, and an incredible friend to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Many of us have been blessed to have Mike in our lives and have experienced firsthand what it means to be cared for by someone who is genuinely kind, selfless, and compassionate.
Beginning in July, Mike will undergo several rounds of chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant. As part of this treatment, his immune system will need to be completely suppressed, requiring him to spend months in isolation away from the people he loves most—his family and friends.
Mike has always been a hardworking and independent person, supporting himself since he was a teenager. Unfortunately, his road to recovery will prevent him from working and providing for his family during this difficult time. In addition to the loss of income, Mike and his family will face significant expenses, including medical costs not covered by insurance, childcare, everyday living expenses, and the cost of renting an apartment that will serve as a quarantine space closer to his healthcare providers.
If you know Mike, you probably know that he never would have asked for this himself. In fact, he did not want me to create this page because he never wants to burden anyone. But because I love Mike and his family, I am asking on his behalf.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward medical expenses, housing, childcare, and helping relieve the financial stress on Mike and his family so they can focus on what matters most—his recovery.
As Mike begins this challenging journey back to health, it's our turn to be there for him, just as he has always been there for so many of us. Not everyone can give, and that's okay. But if you are able to help in any way, today is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference for a family that truly deserves our support.
One final request: please share this page with your family, friends, and community. Together, we can help ease the burden and show Mike and his family just how much they are loved.
