Help Mike Brandstatt

If you know Mike Brandstatt, you have a friend. One of those people that will crack that weird joke or give true advice.  Well, now that friend is in need of help from his friends.

Mike was recently diagnosed with an incredibly rare genetic illness called Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON, Lebers).  This genetic disease is diagnosed to about 100 people a year in the United States.  It negatively impacts the central vision, which makes everyday tasks like reading, writing, and driving more difficult.  Tasks we all may take for granted. It also is difficult to recognize people from a distance even though you may have known them for years.

This fund is to help Michael during a time of uncertainty. Any donation will help Michael with medical expenses, which have become extraordinarily high due to the effort to diagnose this disease and find a course for treatment. However, there is a chance for Mike to stem the effects of this disease. If you believe that Mike would be with you in your time of need, I ask you to be with him in his.
