Help Mike Beat The Odds!

Donation protected
Over the past few months, Mike’s health has drastically declined. He lost all of his appetite and would throw up or have abdominal pain after a few bites of food. As his symptoms continued to worsen and local tests provided no answers, Mike returned to the Mayo Clinic for help on August 14th. He had been a Mayo Clinic patient since his double lung transplant in 2010. After 2 appointments with his transplant doctors, he was sent to the ER for immediate evaluation.

The Mayo ER team ran diagnostic tests and blood work and admitted Mike to Saint Mary’s Hospital for intestinal obstruction and liver failure. A barrage of tests were ordered and run to try to determine why he was having these issues. It seems Mike has stumped the experts. We are currently awaiting results from bone marrow and liver biopsies to determine if the blockage and failure is from cancer or something else. Those are the final tests they can run to find a definite diagnosis since the surgical and GI teams have ruled out surgery because he more than likely would not survive the procedures. Today (August 21st) they determined that the liver damage has affected the kidneys and Mike is in acute renal failure. They plan to start dialysis tomorrow (the 22nd). Biopsy results will not be in for 3 days, so they are trying to stabilize the kidneys in the meantime.

Mike has been very fortunate to have the prayers and support of family and friends in his community. He believes that God will bring him through this. My employer and coworkers have been very supportive in letting me be here with Mike. Unfortunately, being in the hospital so far away from home places a worrisome financial burden on us. I would like to relieve that stress on Mike so he can concentrate on getting better. That is why he is asking for your help.

Everyone who knows Mike knows that he has a kind generous spirit. He is always willing to help in any way he can and never wants any recognition. He just wants to return home to his family and enjoy living again.

If you can, please donate to his cause. Whether you can or cannot, please pray for healing and strength.

Thank you so much for supporting Mike in his effort to get better and beat the odds again.
