Help Mike Beat MESO Round 2!

Mike Mattmuller is a loving husband and father of a beautiful one and a half year old daughter.   In September of 2011 Mike went to an urgent care clinic thinking he had dislocated ribs, and found out he had cancer.  After a couple of months Mike was finally diagnosed with mesothelioma.  In 2012, Mike went through 4 rounds of chemo therapy and a major life saving surgery where they removed his entire left lung, half his diaphragm and the lining of his heart.  At the end of all of his treatments he was considered NED, which stands for no evidence of disease.  He was able to continue like that for 5 years.

Unfortunately, then in September of 2017, Mike's mesothelioma returned.  Mike and Jess weighed the treatment options and decided to go with proton therapy versus traditional radiation.  The risks of side effects were much less, and the treatment time frame made the decision easy.  Unfortunately, that also meant that they wouldn't be able to have the treatment done at NIH so they would  have to use their health insurance at the University of Maryland.  

Due to complications from his life saving surgery the first time around and the side effects of his latest treatments he is unable to work.   Thankfully Mike is able to be on disability, but their family no longer has the aid of his employers' paid portion of their health insurance.  Which even as expensive as it is, still leaves a massive amount for them to pay for Mike's treatments.

All funds received will be used to help offset expenses for Mike's cancer treatments and to alleviate financial stresses on Riley and Jess.
