Help Mike and Liz Rebuild After Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
As many of you know, the beach town that our parents, Mike and Liz, call home was devastated by Hurricane Helene. Historic storm surge took over the island and they are left with nothing but what they packed for what they expected to be an overnight stay in Largo. Their condo took on nearly 5 feet of seawater filled with toxic waste, chemicals, and gasoline, destroying everything in its wake. Crews are working day and night to clean up the tons of sand and debris pushed into the community, but it will be months until the island and their building is habitable again.
We have secured temporary housing for them through November 15th and are working diligently to get as much work done as possible within that time frame, but we expect their need for housing to extend through the end of the year as we clean, gut, and rebuild their home. We recently found out that hurricane insurance does not cover flood damage, but we will be seeking assistance from FEMA to hopefully replace some of their belongings. We are unsure of what will be covered or how long it will take, so we are reaching out to those that love them and have asked what can be done to help. We are currently seeking donations to help with immediate needs, including:
- Clothing (apparel, shoes, etc.) ($1,500)
- Medical (medicine, oxygen, etc.) ($1,000)
- Toiletries ($500)
- Housing ($3,000)
- Furniture ($5,000)
- Housewares ($2,500)
If you are able, we ask that you consider donating in any amount. We also ask for continued prayers. Their spirits are quite low. If you would like to send them a card or a care package of some sort, please contact us and we will get you their temporary address and ideas for what could bring them some comfort in this time of need.
Thank you for being in their corner and for sending love and comfort their way.
